Testicular Cancer Information and Treatment
Testicular Cancer
Testicular cancer is a cancer that forms in tissues of the testis. Testicular cancer usually occurs in young or middle-aged men. The two main types of testicular cancer are seminomas (cancers that grow slowly and are sensitive to radiation therapy) and nonseminomas (different cell types that grow more quickly than seminomas).
Signs and symptoms of testicular cancer may include:
- Lump, swelling, or enlargement in the testicle
- Pain or discomfort in a testicle or in the scrotum
- Ache in the lower abdomen, back, or groin
Testicular Cancer Treatment
Testicular cancer is an unusual illness but one of the most curable cancers there is. There are several different types of testicular cancer. Some are cured with surgery while others require chemotherapy. The chemotherapy is usually given over nine or 12 weeks. Over 90 percent of patients with testicular cancer are cured.
