Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia, also known as lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, is a rare slow-growing non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This type of cancer involves cells of the immune system, a subtype of white blood cells called lymphocytes. Some patients don’t have any obvious signs and symptoms.

Signs and symptoms of Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemiamay / Lymphoplasmacytic Lymphoma include:

  • Sever fatigue and weakness
  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Nose bleeds
  • Weight loss
  • Blurred vision
  • Headaches and dizziness

Treatment for Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia

Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia is a form of a low-grade lymphoma. Treatment can involve just careful observation when very few symptoms are present and there are no laboratory abnormalities. If a patient develops symptoms, such as fever, night sweats or weight loss, or develops laboratory abnormalities, such as an anemia, then treatment is recommended. There are newer treatments available, some of which avoid the use of chemotherapy and are very well tolerated.
